born in 1976 planar grew up in eastern germany when the wall was casting a cloud over berlin. electronic music was unfamiliar at this time and cultural activities were of governmental concern. just a few musicians were regarded as more important than any kind of subculture. however first records from bands like kraftwerk and depeche mode appeared there in the eighties too. the moment of political rebound in the former german democratic republic in the beginning 90´s effectuated that there was a new amazing pool of music to discover for planar and his friends. they were teenagers and decided cursory in a favor for hip-hop and linked to it for a while. but then electronic music went on air in weekly radio transmissions on stations like dt64 and its successors rock radio b and fritz as well as kiss fm. from this moment on those kids were spell bounded by the new sound. planar and some of his friends bought records ad infinitum at this time, mostly ad their beloved hardwax record store. it was also understood on them to buy two 1210s, shortly after they had visited the berlin e-werk and tresor club for the first time. they began to go there more frequently and it felt like a cultural revolution to them and they commemorated this on countless weekends.

still not living in berlin planar decided to move there in 1998 for starting his studies in architecture. still captured by the sound of the early detroit techno and chicago house records and also by some amazing german and european works, he visited and played as a dj (ryker) at countless parties together with old and many of his new friends as well. but there came also a time when the hole techno and house scene in germany became too big and quite boring and the quality of the music just felt apart. with this thoughts in mind and driven by the lack of good records at many stores, planar started to develop his own sound at home. starting with some hardware in the first place his setup is now basically computer based. planars productions are orientated on the sound he used to play in his dj-sets but he is not only focused on the dance floor. nevertheless as a child of techno he is of course fascinated by the classic detroit sounds, matched with his interest in evolving the own style without denying the musical roots. as a passionate singer it is quite imaginable for him to use his own vocals on matching tracks in the near future too. today when germanys electronic scene is getting more straightforward and absorbing again and it feels like a restart of a subculture with talented musicians, it is more than a pleasure for planar being a part of it. anyway that’s just the beginning and you should be better prepared, because there are more things to come…
